Opera on Ice - Arena di Verona

On 22 September, in the fantastic atmosphere of the Verona Arena, an unusual ice spectacle took place: the new edition of OperaOnIce, which saw the biggest stars from the world of figure skating appearing complete with orchestra and choir at the Arena di Verona. World-renowned singers sang works from the arena’s most famous operas. This year the programme featured pieces from the 2013 opera season, including Aida, Nabucco, La Traviata, Il Trovatore, Rigoletto and Romeo and Juliet. Some 12,000 spectators cheered on world-famous skaters who included world champion and four times European champion Carolina Kostner, endorsing the event, Russian Olympic victor and several-times world and European champion Evgeni Plushenko, and Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy, the well-known German figure skating pair, also four times world and European champions. This year as in 2011, OperaOnIce was able to rely on the perfect ice surface provided by Icefantasy.
